THE BENUE State Government has declared Thursday, Friday, and Monday as work-free days for civil servants in observance of the Easter Triduum.
Easter Triduum is a term used by the Roman Catholic Church to denote the three days from the evening of Holy Thursday to the evening of Easter Sunday.
The announcement, made on Tuesday by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Serumun Deborah Aber, stated that the decision was approved by Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia to allow Christian faithful in the state to fully participate in the sacred Easter activities.
According to the statement, the governor recognized the deep spiritual significance of the Easter Triduum to the Christian community, pointing out the need for reflection, spiritual renewal, and quality time with loved ones during the holy period.
“All government offices, ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) will be closed on the declared dates to enable civil servants to take part in the religious activities,” the statement read in part.
Governor Alia also extended warm wishes to all Christians in Benue State and beyond, expressing hope that the Easter season would bring joy, peace, and renewed strength to all.
“May we emerge from this period of reflection and celebration rejuvenated and strengthened in our faith, service to humanity, and commitment to building a greater Benue,” he added.
