THE BENUE State House of Assembly has passed into law the Benue State Supplementary Appropriation Bill, 2025, with a total budget size of ₦550,112,988,913.55 covering both recurrent and capital expenditures.
According to details of the supplementary budget passed during Tuesday’s plenary, the supplementary recurrent expenditure amounts to over ₦229 billion, while the supplementary capital expenditure stands at over ₦321 billion.
Presenting the report of the House Standing Committee on Appropriation, its Chairman, Mr. Isaac Ochekilie, explained that the supplementary budget was necessary to accommodate new and previously uncaptured government entities in the 2025 fiscal year.
He listed among them the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, Benue University of Agriculture, Science and Technology, Ihugh, Bureau for Marine and Solid Minerals, Benue Geographic Information System (BenGIS), and the Office of the Principal Private Secretary, which were either newly created or omitted during the passage of the main budget.
The Clerk of the House, Dr. Bem Mellah, read the bill for the third time, after which it was passed into law.
In his remarks, the Speaker of the House, Hon. Alfred Berger, commended members of the Appropriation Committee for what he described as a thorough and diligent review process, assuring that the legislative arm will continue to support the executive in delivering people-oriented governance.
