THE Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has reelected its National President, Prof Emmanuel Osodeke. He is a professor of Soil Science at the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Abia State.
Prof Osodeke was first elected as President of ASUU in May 2020. With his election now for a second term, Prof Osodeke run the Affairs of ASUU until 2026.
Osodeke’s re-election took place at the weekend during the union’s National Delegates Conference held at the University of Jos, Plateau State.
Also re-elected at the conference along with Prof Osodeke include, Chris Piwuna, an Associate Professor at the University of Jos, as Deputy President, while Ade Adejumo, a professor at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Oyo State, as Financial Secretary; Siji Sowande, another professor at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) as Treasurer, while Adamu Babayo, also a professor, was re-elected as Internal Auditor and Austen Sado re-elected as Investment Secretary.
The only officer of the union who was not re-elected is Stella-Maris Okey, the Welfare Secretary, who was replaced by Aisha Bawa of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto.
