BENUE Links Nigeria Limited has condemned the brutal attack on one of its commercial buses, which resulted in the death of the driver and a passenger, while several others were abducted by suspected armed assailants.

The incident occurred Thursday evening (April 3, 2025), near the Otukpo Burnt Bricks area.

The 18-seater bus, bearing registration number PP512, was en route from Makurdi to Otukpo when it was ambushed by gunmen.

A statement signed by Johnson Ehi Daniel, the Information Officer of Benue Links Nigeria Limited, revealed that the assailants opened fire on the bus, killing the driver, Mr. Samuel Agege, and a front-seat passenger instantly.

The statement also revealed that the attackers abducted some passengers while others escaped into the bush.

“Three passengers managed to escape during the chaos, while another had alighted earlier at Taraku before the attack occurred,” the statement added.

The company expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased.

It also assured the public that it is working closely with security agencies to secure the release of those kidnapped.

“We appreciate the swift response of the law enforcement agencies and express confidence in their ongoing efforts to rescue the abducted passengers,” the company said.
