GOVERNOR Hyacinth Alia has reportedly withdrawn all official vehicles on the entourage of the immediate past Speaker of Benue State House of Asembly, Hon. Hyacinth Aondona Dajoh, barely 24 hours following what is believed to be a ‘forced resignation’ on Sunday.

The revelation was made on the Facebook wall of Dajoh’s Personal Assistant on New Media, Jabesh Agile.

“I didn’t believe my eyes when all official vehicles left the premises headed for Government House, oh empty we came, empty we would go? I prayed it shouldn’t be.

“He laughed over it, consoled all of us like it never happened, in my heart I asked, what manner of man are you?” Jabesh wrote on his Facebook wall.

Meanwhile, Governor Alia has congratulated Honourable Alfred Emberga Berger, member representing Makurdi North State Constituency, on his emergence as speaker of the 10th Benue State House of Assembly.

Hon. Berger was elected on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at an emergency sitting of the Assembly, following the resignation of Hon. Dajoh.

In a statement on Monday by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, Governor Alia commended the legislature for the speed and orderliness with which it filled the leadership vacuum. He described Emberga’s election as a reflection of the confidence reposed in him by his colleagues and an endorsement of his capacity to uphold democratic values.

“‎Governor Alia who commends the swift process that led to the emergence of a new leader of the legislative arm of government in the State, says the election of Hon. Emberga is a testament to the confidence reposed in him by his colleagues and a reflection of his commitment and ability to uphold democratic values,” Kula said.

The governor expressed optimism that under Emberga’s leadership, the Assembly would “continue to work tirelessly towards the formulation and enactment of laws and policies aimed at improving the lives of the people of the state.”

Alia urged the legislature to maintain a cordial working relationship with the executive and judiciary, noting that sustainable development and delivery of democratic dividends could only be achieved through collaboration among the three arms of government.

While appreciating the immediate past Speaker, Hon. Dajoh, for his service, the governor assured the new Speaker and all members of the Assembly of his sustained support in the pursuit of the state’s collective interest.
