GOVERNOR Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has assigned additional job to his Technical Adviser on Media, Publicity and Strategic Communication, Hon. Solomon Iorpev, appointing him as Director General of a new agency, Benue State Signage and Advertising Agency.
Hon. Iorpev, who holds a master’s degree in public relations and advertising, is tasked with overseeing the management and control of outdoor advertisements and signages across Benue State.
In a statement posted on Iorpev’s Whatsapp group for journalists, governor Alia emphasised the importance of maintaining an appealing visual environment, upholding safety and aesthetic standards, and ensuring a responsible environment in the state.
In his new role, Hon. Iorpev has warned against the indiscriminate placement of billboards and other advertising platforms, citing the negative impact on city centers.
He urged the public to obtain necessary permits from the Urban Development Board before placing adverts and advised those with outstanding payments to settle their debts, as enforcement measures will soon be implemented.
According to him, this development is part of Governor Alia’s efforts to enhance the state’s visual appeal and promote responsible advertising practices.
