GUNMEN who allegedly kidnapped Benue State Commissioner of Information, Culture and Tourism, Matthew Abo, from his Zaki-Biam residence in Ukum LGA of Benue State have reportedly demanded a ransom of N60 million before they will release him.
National Record gathered that the abductors made the demand on Friday, September 29, 2023 in a phone call to a member of the family.
The demand for the ransom is coming four days after Governor Hyacinth Alia had issued a warning and threat that the men of the underworld had “limited hours” to release his commissioner.
According to reports, the person who received the abductors’ call but craved anonymity for security reasons said, the kidnappers are torturing the commissioner to compel compliance with their ransom demand.
The source claimed they called and placed their phone on loud speaker so that their beating of the commissioner and his cries for help could be heard.
