- Says ‘We Understand The Deep Rage, Frustration Of Our People

GOVERNOR Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has condemned the killing of three Civil Protection Guards by gunmen suspected to be herders at On-MbaAondo, Tsambe-Mbesev ward in Gwer West LGA.
A statement late Tuesday by his Chief Press Secretary quoted Governor Alia as describing the attack as a “flagrant affront to the peace and security of our communities.”
The governor, reassured citizens that his administration remains committed to protecting lives and ensuring that the perpetrators are brought to justice, although no gunman has been brought to justice since the spate of violence in the state over the years.
The governor acknowledged the growing frustration among residents, which he said led to the violent protest in Naka, the Gwer West headquarters, resulting in the destruction of the local government secretariat and the palace of Ter Nagi.
While empathising with the sentiments of the people, he urged for restraint, emphasising that destruction of property only hinders government efforts to restore peace and security.
“We understand the deep rage and frustration of our people, but we must channel this anger wisely. Destroying our own assets only serves to weaken our collective efforts in securing our communities,” Governor Alia stated.
He directed security agencies to intensify their efforts in tracking down the attackers, ensuring that justice is served.
“The security of our residents is paramount, and we will not rest until those responsible for these heinous acts are held accountable,” Alia said, reiterating his administration’s ongoing commitment to strengthening security measures across the state, urging citizens to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies in reporting suspicious activities.
“In these difficult times, let us stand united against violence and work towards peace and justice in Benue State. Together, we can overcome these challenges and build a safer environment for all,” he urged.
This latest attack comes amid a series of violent incidents in Benue State, with recent attacks reported in Kwande and Katsina-Ala Local Government Areas. Governor Alia has recently condemned these assaults with a promise to continue to push for stronger security interventions to curb the menace.
