A JOS magistrates’ court on Thursday sentenced a 41-year cattle herdsman, Isa Mohammed, to nine months in prison for assaulting a woman.
The magistrate, Shawomi Bokkos, summarily tried and sentenced the convict after he pleaded guilty to the charge.
Bokkos, who sentenced him to nine months in prison gave him an option of N50,000 fine and also asked him to pay a compensation of N30,000 to the complainant.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp Ibrahim Gokwat, told the court that the case was reported on August 27, at the “C” Division police station by Hassana Sambo, the complainant.
Gokwat said the convict assaulted the woman and damaged her phone valued at N45,000.
He said that the offence contravened the Plateau Penal Code Law. (NAN)
