  • To Deploy Legal Support Against Alarmist

By Amos Aar

THE RESIDENT PASTOR of the Living Faith Church, Wurukum, Makurdi, in Benue State, Pastor Richard Emecheta, has said the church under his leadership will deploy all legal means to bring to book those behind the false allegation and mobbing of one of its pastors, Dr Emmanuel Aime, who is also a lecturer at the Alfred Akawe Torkula Polytechnic, Makurdi.

National Record had reported how Dr Aime was falsely accused of causing the disappearance of the penis of a young man in Makurdi following which he was beaten almost to death by a mob but rescued by the police.

In a statement obtained by National Record on Saturday, and signed by Pastor Emecheta, the Living Faith Church said, Dr Aime had on November 8, 2023 left the Living Faith Church to Otukpo Road within Makurdi, the Benue State capital, for evangelism during which he prayed for a young man who left the location but returned after a while, complaining that his penis had disappeared after the man of God touched him.

He said the false alarm attracted an angry mob who tortured the lecturer and nearly lynched him before soldiers and police officers rescued him.

According to the statement, the officers took both Dr Aime and his false accuser to police station where the accuser was checked by the police medical team who “discovered that his manhood was intact”.

According to the statement, the said fraudster was consequently detained immediately while Dr Aime was rushed to Sandra Hospital, Makurdi for treatment of the wounds he sustained from the mob’s molestation.

The statement added that the alarmist was to be charged to court on Friday, November 10, 2023. Benue State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Superintendent of Police (SP) Catherine Sewuese Anene, did not respond when National Record contacted her via WhatsApp on Saturday, November 11 for enquiry on whether the alarmist was charged to court as indicated in the church’s statement.
