A teacher at the school, Mr Nicodemus Adasu, who briefed National Record on 2Baba’s visit to the school, said the musician was there on invitation of the school’s authority to grace the feast day of the Archangels, Saint Michael, Saint Gabriel and Saint Raphael.
Adasu explained that being the feast day of St Gabriel who Mount St Gabriel’s Secondary School is named and which they celebrate annually, 2Baba was invited on Thursday (September 29, 2022) to interface with the students and he honoured the invitation.
National Record gathered that while addressing the students, 2Baba traced how he started his musical career with his mates right from MSG amidst difficulties as a student. He also told them that despite the challenges and unfavourable atmosphere for music production at that time, he did not give up and today he has become who he is.
According to him, the social media and modern gadgets that are available in the current era were not there at the time he started, stating that he had to go from one radio station to another and other media houses to release his first album because there was then nothing like YouTube, Twitter and Facebook.
He said his resolve to keep on pushing and persevering has helped him to succeed today.
