Governor Ortom, who stated this while interfacing with Benue youth groups at the New Banquet Hall, Government House, Makurdi, to mark this year’s International Youth Day; lamented that the fight against corruption in Nigeria is not real because it is selective and the rule of law is not operational as money meant for medical facilities is embezzled by people who are going about scot free and well-known armed bandits are not apprehended.
The first batch of ten beneficiaries who are from Effeche-Akpalli community in Okpokwu Local Government Area received a total sum of One Million Naira (N1,000,000) on Thursday 6th August, 2020 at the Company’s Mining Site at Effeche.

The governor cautioned against the diversion of the items to people who did not lack food, saying it was meant specifically for the “poorest of the poor.” He added that the local government chairmen will not share the items, but a committee will be set up to handle the task and it will be drawn from the clergy, traditional institution and civil society organisations, among others.
Mr Hon assured that students will excel in the exams without compromising standards as according to him, most schools were teaching their students at home online during the shutdown period.
“We know that things are tough and we wish President Muhammadu Buhari good health to be able to continue with the good work he is doing. Let us see more federal presence in Benue State. To the best of my knowledge, I can recall only one, the new university in Otukpo. Let them remember that people are down here,” the Chief Imam stated.
While the Information Commissioner said Dr Ongbabo did not disclose the reasons for his resignation, there are speculations that he may have been removed by Governor Ortom on allegations that he was not active, particularly with respect to the handling of Covid-19 pandemic in the state.
In a Sallah message, Shaaban encouraged the observance of COVID-19 safety standards throughout the festive period.
