In the letter addressed to the President of the Senate, Bako cried out against the omission of his name from the list of ambassadorial nominees read out on the floor of the Senate on Tuesday, 12th May 2020. He said as the most senior officer from Kogi State, his name, rather than that of Ocheni, whom he claims is from Cross River State, ought to be on the list.

African governments, unlike their Western counterparts, aren’t relying on common sense. Judging from the numbers, and interpreting them with the scientific information that’s understood so far, Africa has made the better bet. Although cases on the continent are increasing, many African countries are not seeing the exponential daily growth in confirmed cases, nor in mortality, that has been happening in the United States and Western Europe. There are exceptions, especially above the Sahel: Egypt, Algeria, and Morocco alone account for a third of the continent’s seventy-two thousand cases, and fifty-one per cent of its 2,475 deaths.
Every human being has his own well-wishers and those who do not have such dispositions towards him. You cannot be an exception.
According to victims, the extortion scheme, which commenced on March 30, 2020 when the lockdown kicked off, was initially thought to be the usual opportunistic instinct associated with the police. However, it quickly transformed into a well-oiled revenue drive from which the police are raking in huge income on daily and weekly basis from their men enforcing the government-imposed restrictions.

While we pay homage in respect of the sacrifice of our nurses in the current war against Covid-19, we reiterate our earlier calls for the government and healthcare managers across our country and other climes world over to pay attention to the voice of silent sobs by our nurses who go to war without adequate personal protective gear, conducive work environment and an impossible work schedule.
Notwithstanding the commendations, CITAD however observed that there are still a number of shortcomings. According to the organization, the situation in the isolation centres of Baraya and Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital, calls for concern as suspected people waiting for their results freely mix with confirmed cases without observing social distance rules. This, CITAD said, has created a dilemma such that even when the results of the suspect cases “turn out negative, they might have become infected by the virus during the their stay in the isolation centres”
The NLC president appears to believe that there is no alternative to the current capitalist system, its inherent poverty and inequality. As a result, he appears to adopt a nationalist position and all that he can hope for is that the Nigerian economy develops and that some of the extra wealth trickles down to the poor majority. This is despite the fact that, especially over the last three or four decades, the wealth that labour creates has gushed up to the tiny minority of corrupt leaders. They have succeeded in enriching themselves beyond their wildest dreams and so they don’t really need advice from the NLC or anybody else.
What the Lagos governor, and his colleagues across the country, wouldn’t admit or may not know, is that the Poor have learnt from the very hard realities of circles of deceptions of the ruling class. The Poor do not trust them and never do they trust the middle class who speak big, big grammar that are inconsistent with their daily life experiences.
