THE Federal High Court, Abuja, on Wednesday sentenced a former Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior, Mrs Anastasia Daniel-Nwobia, to one year community service. Daniel-Nwobia who was convicted on April 7 was given the sentence over her role in the botched March 15, 2014 Nigeria Immigration Service recruitment tragedy where about 15 job seekers died in a stampede. Justice Nnamdi Dimgba who handed down the sentence also ruled that Daniel-Nwobia would forfeit 50 per cent of her contributory pension for the next five years to the Federal Government. THE federal government has approved the installation of two kilowatts of solar power at the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON), Badagry, to improve power supply at the institute. THE 36 state governors have prayed a Federal High Court in Abuja to restrain the Federal Government from approving the deduction of any money accruing to the states from the Federation Account for the payment of 418 million dollars judgment debt. THE Department of State Service (DSS) on Tuesday issued an alert of alleged plans by some elements to launch bomb attacks on critical infrastructure and public places like worship and relaxation centres. THE National Pension Commission has issued for immediate implementation a revised regulation on retirement and terminal benefits for Nigerian workers.
