THE 4th Congress of the Joint Action Front (JAF), a pro-labour/civil society movement, is scheduled to hold at the Textile Union Labour House, 10 Acme Road, off Agindingbi, Ogba, Ikeja-Lagos, from Saturday, 4th to Sunday 5th September, 2021.

A statement by Comrade Abiodun Aremu (Aremson), JAF’s Secretary, on Monday said the Congress will hold under the theme “The Necessity of an Alternative Political Agenda to Reconstruct Nigeria.”

Comrade Aremson said the President of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Ayuba Wabba, his Trade Union Congress (TUC) counterpart, Comrade Quadri Olaleye, and President of the Academic Staff Union of Union of Universities (ASUU), Professor Victor Emmanuel Osodeke, would speak to the Congress at the opening session on: “Defining the Ideological Context of the Labour and Civil Society Coalition: Wither LASCO?”

According to the statement, in addition to the keynote addresses, the congress will, among other things, extensively deliberate on the state of the nation; the state of JAF and the need to strengthen it; the political alternative question, the need to define JAF’s position and its program of action, as well as the election of officials.
