GOVERNOR Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau has inaugurated new commissioners and aides as he reshuffles his cabinet. The swearing in ceremony took place on Thursday night while the switch of portfolios was announced on Friday in Jos.
The newly appointed Commissioners include Prof. Gloria Karuri and Maj.-Gen. Bala Isandu (Rtd), both from Bassa LGA, Prince Miaphen and Ishaku Maren from Quan’pan and Bokkos LGAs, respectively.
NAN also reports that Karuri heads the Ministry of Education, Miaphen is in charge of Youths and Sports Development, while Maren heads the Ministry of Budget and Planning.
The commissioners whose offices were reshuffled include former Commissioner for Lands and Survey, Mr Peter Nyam-Gai, now Commissioner for Agriculture, Musa Ashoms of Youths and Sports, now Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, while Joshua Ubandoma of the Ministry of Works is now the Commissioner for Environment.
Similarly, Gang, formerly of the education ministry will now serve as Commissioner in the new Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, and Samson Bugama of the Agric ministry is now in charge of Livestock and Fisheries, while Peter Gwom now heads Lands and Survey.
Those who maintained their ministries include Mr Davou Gyang of Transport, Caroline Darfur of Women Affairs, Joyce Ramnap of Information and Bashir Lawandi of Water resources and Energy.
Philemon Dafi, however, remains the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of the state.
Addressing the commissioners after the searing-in, Mutfwang charged them to give their best in the delivery of their duties as he says capacity for value addition was what influenced the appointments. (NAN)
