THE RESOURCE Center for Human Rights and Civic Education (CHRICED) has congratulated the Executive Director of the Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC), Auwal Musa Rafsanjani, on receiving the prestigious Transparency International Amalia Award.
In a press release issued on Friday and signed by its Executive Director, Zikirullahi M. Ibrahim, CHRICED described the recognition as well deserved, noting that it reflects Rafsanjani’s decades-long commitment to promoting transparency, accountability and democratic governance in Nigeria.
The award was presented during the Transparency International Movement Awards Ceremony on July 1, 2026, at the conclusion of the Transparency International Summit 2026, held from June 29 to July 1.
According to CHRICED, the award recognises Rafsanjani’s leadership in advancing reforms, empowering citizens and confronting entrenched corruption that undermines development and social justice.
The organisation noted that the honour extends beyond Rafsanjani’s personal achievements, describing it as a testament to the important role civil society organisations play in safeguarding democratic values.
“His work — spanning legislative advocacy, public enlightenment and coalition building — has consistently amplified the voices of marginalized communities and advanced the cause of good governance across the country,” the statement said.
CHRICED further praised Rafsanjani’s contributions to Nigeria’s democratic development, saying his dedication has inspired the civic space.
“CHRICED has always known Rafsanjani as a steadfast advocate whose courage and integrity continue to inspire the civic space. This award reinforces what many of us already know: Rafsanjani’s contributions have been instrumental in pushing Nigeria toward a more accountable and just society,” the organisation stated.
The human rights organisation also commended Transparency International for recognising individuals committed to fighting corruption and promoting integrity.
It urged government institutions, development partners and citizens to see the award as “a reminder of the urgent need to strengthen Nigeria’s anti-corruption architecture.”
CHRICED reaffirmed its support for the Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC) and its partners, expressing optimism that Rafsanjani’s continued advocacy would contribute to building a Nigeria where transparency flourishes, public resources are safeguarded and citizens benefit from accountable governance.
