GOVERNOR Hyacinth Alia on Wednesday approved the appointment of Eunice Ogbenyi as the acting Head of Service (HoS) of the state.
This was contained in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Tersoo Kula and in Makurdi.
The appointment followed the death of the former HoS, Agbogbo Ode, who served in the position from 2023 to 2026.
Ogbenyi, who hails from Oju LGA, was born on June 12, 1973. Before her appointment, she served as Permanent Secretary in the Benue State Ministry of Lands and Survey.
She obtained a Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) in Mathematics/Physics from College of Education Oju in 1996 and later earned a Bachelor’s degree in 2005, a Master’s degree in 2010, and a Ph.D. in 2021 in Mathematics Education from Father Moses Orshio Adasu University.
Ogbenyi joined the Benue State Teaching Service Board in 1998 as a Principal Assistant Education Officer (PAEO II).
Her service was transferred to the Benue State Ministry of Education in February 2012, where she held several strategic positions.
She served as Deputy Director of Education in the Department of Planning, Research and Statistics, where she headed the Joint Consultative Committee on Education/National Council on Education unit and also functioned as Assistant Head of the Education Management Information System (EMIS) unit.
Congratulating the new acting head of service, Gov Alia urged her to uphold professionalism, continuity, and dedication to public service.
“As you assume this critical role, I charge you with the responsibilities, principles, and priorities that will guide your stewardship and ensure continuity, professionalism, and service to the public,” the governor said.
He further directed her to align her actions with the administration’s vision of civil service reforms, maintain the dignity of the office, and ensure that the interest of the state remains paramount in all official dealings.
The appointment takes immediate effect. (NAN)
