PRESIDENT Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday swore in a National Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and four new Permanent Secretaries.

The brief ceremony took place at the State House, Abuja, shortly before the commencement of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.

The appointees took their oaths of office in a single batch and thereafter signed the official register.

Retired Rear Admiral Jamila Malafa, from Adamawa State, was sworn in as National Commissioner of INEC to fill the vacant position.

Those inaugurated as permanent secretaries are Mrs Augusta Warrens (Bayelsa), Dr Ayinde Shoretire (Ogun), Malam Aminu Yargaya (Kano) and Mrs Nkiruka Jones-Nebo (Enugu).

The event was witnessed by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume, and National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.

Also, in attendance was the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs Didi Esther Walson-Jack and other top government officials. (NAN)
