BENUE Links Nigeria Limited has confirmed an attack on one of its commercial vehicles by suspected gunmen along the Aliade-Otukpo route in Benue State, leaving three passengers injured.
The company said the incident occurred at about 7pm on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at the Burnt Bricks area of Otukpo.
The vehicle, with registration number PP974, was reportedly traveling from Gboko to Otukpo to lodge for the night before continuing its journey the following day when it came under attack.
In a statement issued by the company’s Information Officer, Johnson Ehi Daniel, the management said no life was lost in the incident, but three passengers sustained gunshot injuries.
The victims are currently receiving treatment at the Federal University of Health Sciences Teaching Hospital, Otukpo, and are said to be responding positively.
She added that following the incident, the General Manager of Benue Links, Comrade Alexander Fanafa, travelled to Otukpo early Sunday to visit the injured passengers at the hospital where he was joined by the Otukpo Business Manager, Mr Edache Joseph, who had earlier ensured that the victims were taken to the hospital and were receiving care.
During the visit, the General Manager assured the injured passengers that the company would bear the full cost of their medical treatment and also guarantee their safe transportation to their respective destinations once they are certified fit to travel by medical personnel.
He also expressed appreciation to the Chief Medical Director and management of the Federal University of Health Sciences Teaching Hospital, Otukpo, for their prompt response and quality medical services.
The statement added that the General Manager later visited the Otukpo Police Station, where he met with the Divisional Police Officer and other officers of the Nigerian Police Force, commending commended them for their swift response to distress calls involving the company and urged them to sustain efforts at tackling criminal activities in the area.
Addressed Benue Links drivers at the Otukpo Motor Park, Fanafa reportedly reiterated that the company’s ban on night travel remains in force. He warned that any driver found violating the directive would face disciplinary action and further advised drivers to obey traffic rules, drive responsibly, remain courteous to passengers and stay security-conscious at all times.
