HEALTH personnel across Kaduna State have been urged to redouble their commitment to efficient service delivery in line with the state government’s ongoing health sector reforms.

The Executive Secretary, Kaduna State Primary Health Care Board, Prof. Bello Jamoh, made the call during a meeting with Health Secretaries, union leaders, and top management staff of the agency  on Monday in Kaduna.

Executive Secretary, Kaduna State Primary Healthcare Board, Prof. Bello Jamoh.

Jamoh said the state government, under Governor Uba Sani, had made significant investments aimed at revitalising the health sector to improve access and quality of care.

He listed some of the achievements recorded by the administration to include the comprehensive upgrade of primary healthcare centres.

Others were the distribution of state-of-the-art medical equipment, recruitment of additional personnel, and the recent increase in salaries and wages of health workers.

“To whom much is given, much is expected. With all these gestures by the government, it is only right that we redouble our efforts and show greater dedication to service delivery,” he said.

The executive secretary emphasised that the huge investments in the health sector came with high expectations, urging all personnel to uphold professionalism and commitment as guiding principles in their work.

He warned that acts of inefficiency, laxity, unprofessional conduct, or misconduct would no longer be tolerated in the system.

Jamoh also appealed to all health workers to show empathy and compassion to patients while carrying out their duties.

Responding, the Chairman of the Association of Health Secretaries across the 23 Local Government Areas, Dr Yahuza Muhammad, pledged the association’s commitment to supporting the government’s health agenda and improving service delivery.

Muhammad commended Gov. Uba Sani for his “remarkable and unprecedented” achievements in the health sector.

Similarly, the Chairman of the Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria (MHWUN), Kaduna State chapter, Mr Umar Fatika, lauded the state government for its multiple interventions and welfare packages for health workers.

Fatika described the salary increment as “historic,” adding that it was the first time in the history of the state that health workers’ salaries had been doubled.

“Health workers in Kaduna have never had it this good.

“We are grateful to the governor and the board for prioritising our welfare, and we assure renewed zeal and total commitment to quality healthcare delivery,” he said. (NAN)
