COMRADE Fidelista Abiodun Aremu has congratulated Comrade Issa Aremu over his reappointment as Director General of the Michael Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies (MINILS).
Comrade Fidelista Aremu, popularly known as Aremson, in a congratulatory letter, praised Issa Aremu for his “exceptional contributions to the institute and the broader labour movement in Nigeria.”
Aremson is the Secretary of the Joint Action Front (JAF) of Labour-Civil Society Forum and Executive Secretary of the Dr. Kolagbodi Memorial Foundation.
In the letter, Comrade Fidelista highlighted Aremu’s remarkable achievements over the past two years, emphasizing his innovative leadership and dedication to advancing labour studies in Nigeria.
He noted that Aremu’s tenure has been marked by significant strides in aligning the institute’s goals with the needs of the Nigerian working class.
The letter also reflected on Aremu’s storied history as a student activist during his time at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, where he was a prominent figure in the Progressive Youth Movement of Nigeria (PYMN) and the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) between 1979 and 1990.
Aremson noted Aremu’s resilience for overcoming expulsion from ABU in 1981 and retaking the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination, and later graduated from the University of Port Harcourt.
Aremson urged Aremu to leverage his Pan-Africanist ideals to further transform MINILS, suggesting the establishment of an annual lecture series to foster intellectual discourse and policy development among graduates and academics.
