THE FEDERAL Government has dismissed suggestions that President Bola Tinubu is being controlled by a cabal or shadowy inner circle.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, refuted the claims on Thursday in Abuja during his address at the APC National Summit titled “Renewed Hope Agenda: The Journey So Far.”
Idris stated that the President considers diverse viewpoints but makes independent decisions in Nigeria’s best interest. “You can voice your opinions, but the final decision is his alone,” he said.
Highlighting the administration’s achievements, Idris noted that Tinubu inherited a nation at a crossroads and took bold steps, including removing petrol and forex subsidies, which he described as major obstacles to progress. He emphasized that tough but necessary reforms are yielding results across sectors.
Key infrastructure projects underway include the 2,600km Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway, Calabar-Abuja Superhighway, and Akwanga-Jos-Bauchi-Gombe Highway. The Kano-Kaduna Standard Gauge Railway is also advancing as part of the Lagos-Kano modernization plan.
In housing, the Renewed Hope Cities and Estates initiative aims to reduce deficits while creating jobs. The government has also deployed 90,000km of fiber optic cable to boost digital connectivity and support e-services.
Other milestones include the National Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) benefiting 300,000 students, a new Consumer Credit Scheme, and enhanced security efforts, with thousands of terrorists neutralized and hostages rescued. The military has acquired over 25 new aircraft, and the Navy received four vessels.
Idris reaffirmed that the Renewed Hope Agenda remains a comprehensive, people-centered strategy for national transformation. (NAN)
