AN alumnus of the Benue State University (BSU), Marcus Ijioma, has donated copies of his newly published work, Dictionary of Nigerian Pidgin & Slangs, to the university in a show of appreciation for the academic foundation that shaped his journey.
The book donation took place at the vice-chancellor’s conference room, where Ijioma was warmly received.
A 2007 graduate of Linguistics, Ijioma said the visit and presentation were rooted in deep gratitude for the role BSU played in his intellectual development.
“This visit and book presentation are my way of saying thank you to BSU for the solid academic foundation that helped shape my intellectual path,” Ijioma said.
Copies of the book were received on behalf of the vice-chancellor, Professor Tor Joe Iorapuu, by the deputy vice-chancellor (Administration), Professor Mike Odugbo Odey.
He praised the author’s thoughtful donation, noting that it would contribute meaningfully to scholarship and research in the university.
“This is a commendable act that will no doubt enrich teaching, learning and research in our institution,” Professor Odey said, adding: “We are proud of Marcus Ijioma and urge other alumni to emulate his thoughtful example.”
The donation has been celebrated as a valuable addition to the university’s academic resources, particularly in the fields of linguistics, communication and cultural studies.
