KOGI State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo has congratulated the new president of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Alhassan Yahaya on his victory at the just concluded triennial delegates conference of the union held in Owerri, the Imo state capital.

A statement on Saturday, signed by Ismaila Isah, Special Adviser on Media to the Governor, quoted Ododo as describing the new NUJ president as a worthy media professional committed to the welfare of journalists in Nigeria as exemplified by his tenure as the Deputy National President of the Union.

The governor said he was proud of the all-inclusive consultation and campaign that led to the emergence as the new NUJ president and urged him to continue to promote an all-inclusive agenda and give utmost priority to the welfare of members of the union under his leadership.

He commended members of the union for their orderly conduct during the election that ushered in the new leadership.

Governor Ododo also congratulated the General Manager of Radio Nigeria Prime FM, Lokoja, Alhaji Momoh Jimoh Adeiza, on his election as the Vice President of the NUJ in Zone D comprising Kogi, Benue, Kwara, Nasarawa, Niger, Plateau states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

He noted that MJ Adeiza is an astute journalist who has brought honour and recognition to Kogi State over the years.

Governor Ododo wishes the new NUJ president and other members of the new national executive committee a successful tenure in office.
