THE BENUE State Ministry of Education has approved a shift in date for the Mock/Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE) to first week of September 2024.
Commissioner of Education and Knowledge Management, Dr Frederick Ikyaan, who announced this at the end of a meeting he held with directors and heads of parastatals under the ministry on Thursday regretted any inconvenience the shift may have caused principals, schools, parents and other stakeholders.
Media Aide to the commissioner, Mr Akaa Sule, quoted his principal to have explained that the shift became necessary due to circumstances beyond the Ministry’s immediate control, adding that “all schools are to participate in the examination as it is compulsory for promotion of those in SS 2 to SS 3.
The commissioner further informed that no candidate will be cleared for West African Secondary School Certificate (WASSCE), National Examination Council (NECO) and National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) examinations without evidence of passing the Mock/SSCE examinations.
He warned that the ministry and relevant agencies will not accept excuses whatsoever as according to him, “it is no longer business as usual”.
